Bangladesh secured a memorable 78-run victory over Pakistan after defending a massive target of 437 on the final day of the 2nd Test match at Sylhet.
Pakistan were bowled out for 358 during the morning session, falling short despite a fighting 94 from Mohammad Rizwan. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam starred with the ball, claiming impressive figures of 6 for 120.
The result lifted Bangladesh to fifth place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings after four matches. Their points percentage (PCT) improved to 58.33, allowing them to move ahead of India, who dropped to sixth place with a PCT of 48.15 after winning four and losing four of their nine matches.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s struggles in the WTC cycle continued, with their PCT slipping to 8.33 after four matches.
Sri Lanka remained in fourth place in the WTC standings with a PCT of 66.67 after two matches.
