Sri Lanka Cricket has officially confirmed the appointment of the new national cricket selection panel following the recent approval granted by the Ministry of Sports.
In a media release issued on May 23, Sri Lanka Cricket stated that Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage had appointed the new five-member selection committee after dissolving the previous panel.
According to the statement, the appointments were made based on nominations submitted by Sri Lanka Cricket.
Former cricketer Kapila Wijegunawardene has been named chairman of the selection panel, while Amal Silva, Brendon Kuruppu, Waruna Waragoda and Vanessa De Silva have been appointed as members.
Sri Lanka Cricket further confirmed that the appointments officially came into effect on May 21, 2026.
The latest media release from SLC follows the earlier announcement made by the Ministry of Sports regarding the restructuring of the national selection panel.
