Bangladesh moved above Pakistan and England in the latest ICC World Test Championship standings after securing a historic victory in Mirpur on Tuesday.
Bangladesh recorded their first home Test win over Pakistan with a 104-run triumph at Shere Bangla National Stadium, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
Chasing a target of 268, Pakistan were bowled out for 163 after slipping from a steady 68-2 during an intense final session. Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana starred with the ball, claiming impressive figures of 5-40.
The result marked Bangladesh’s third consecutive Test victory over Pakistan.
The win gives Bangladesh an early boost in the new World Test Championship cycle as they continue their strong form in red-ball cricket.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka currently sit fourth in the World Test Championship standings with one win and one draw from two matches.
