The opening match of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 will be played between Jaffna and Galle, according to a media release issued by Sri Lanka Cricket.
Jaffna and Galle earned the opportunity to feature in the tournament opener after finishing as champions and runners-up respectively in the 2024 season of the league.
The opening fixture is scheduled to take place on July 17 at the SSC Ground, with the match set to begin at 7.30 p.m.
Tournament organisers have also announced that an opening ceremony will be held at the venue ahead of the opening match.
The 2026 edition of the LPL will run from July 17 to August 8 and will be played across four venues — SSC, Rangiri Dambulla, Pallekele and R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
