India have announced a full-strength squad for the Men’s T20 event at the 2026 Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Japan during September and October.
The squad will be led by Shreyas Iyer, with Tilak Varma appointed as vice-captain. Several established international players have been included in the lineup, highlighting India’s commitment to the tournament.
One of the notable selections is premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who is among a talented group of players expected to strengthen India’s campaign.
India Squad:
Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Sanju Samson (Wicketkeeper), Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (Wicketkeeper), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (Vice-Captain), Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Jasprit Bumrah.
While India are set to field a strong squad for the Asian Games, Sri Lanka may be unable to send their full-strength team to the tournament.
The reason is a scheduled tour of England that is expected to take place during the same period as the Asian Games. Sri Lanka are set to play a six-match white-ball series in England, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is.
As a result, Sri Lanka may have to select a second-string squad for the Asian Games cricket competition, with several senior players likely to be involved in the England tour.
The scheduling overlap presents a significant challenge for Sri Lankan selectors as they balance commitments across two major international assignments.
